What is Hirujam?
A daytime jam session held at Coffee Pub Mac, near JR Gotsu Station in Gotsu, Shimane, Japan.
Whether you play, just listen, or come with your kids — it’s an easygoing afternoon where people gather around music.
The host band are parents too, and their kids are there every time.
How the afternoon goes

HOW TO JOIN

Just listening is fine
You don’t have to play. Enjoying the music with a drink in hand is perfectly fine.

Come and go freely
As long as you’re wearing the neck strap you get at the door, you’re free to come and go. Arrive late, step out, come back — all fine.

Never been to a jam session? You can still join in.

Want to play?
Sign up casually on the day, before we start (from 13:30). If you feel like joining later, talk to the host band during the break. Pianists, bassists and drummers are welcome too.

A piano–bass–drums trio plays at every session.
♪Piano, bass and drum players can of course join too. You’ll swap in for the host on your part.
ENTRY
One card at the door
At the entrance you’ll get a card on a neck strap — one per person. Wear it and you can come and go as you like.
- Yellow
- Guests. Wear it to come and go freely. The drink menu is on the back.
- Green
- Host band. Ask anyone in green if you need help.
- Leaving
- Please return your strap to the box by the exit.
DRINK
No music charge
One drink per adult, please. Every drink is ¥500, paid each time you order.
KIDSKids under 18 can use the free drink corner at no charge.
VENUE
Coffee Pub MacSINCE1975
A pub on Akebono-dori in Gotsu since 1975 — look for the log-cabin front. At night it plays jazz on vinyl, and there’s a piano and drum kit inside. It’s one of the very few places in the Iwami region of Shimane where you can hear jazz. On Hirujam days, it becomes a place for music from the afternoon.
The pub’s evening hours: 19:00–23:00 (closed on irregular days)
TRAIN
Coming by train
From Gotsu Station on the JR San’in Line, it’s a short, almost flat walk via Route 9 and Akebono-dori.

On Sundays, Palette Gotsu’s lot can fill up because of other events nearby. If it does, please use one of the lots below — or come by train.

Free for the first 30 min, ¥100 up to 1 hour, then ¥100 per hour.

8:00–20:00: ¥100 per 50 min. 20:00–8:00: ¥50 per 50 min (max ¥400). ¥10,000 and ¥5,000 notes not accepted.

Weekends & holidays: first 20 min free, then ¥100 per 30 min. Weekdays: first 20 min free, then ¥200 per 30 min (¥100 from 16:00 to 7:45).
